SARANAC LAKE — The annual Saranac Lake Winter Carnival Ladies Fry Pan Toss this past Saturday drew 168 participants across six age groups. The Little Ladies Fry Pan Toss had 43 participants across three age groups.
The Ladies Fry Pan Toss has been an annual element of the Winter Carnival for more than 20 years. In the main event, women age 18 and up compete to see who can throw a skillet the farthest, by age group and overall.
Amanda Gadway was the grand prize overall winner of this year’s event, with a 47-foot, eight-inch throw in the 30-34 age bracket.
A separate Little Ladies Fry Pan Toss is held for girls age 6 to 17.
Phoebe Peer was the overall winner there, with a toss of 44 feet, 5 inches in the 13-17 age group.
