LAKE PLACID — Mike Eruzione, captain of the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” U.S. Olympic hockey team, recently announced that an officially licensed Mike Eruzione Team Shop will celebrate its grand opening today at 2464 Main St.

The store — operated by Redline Hockey, LLC, based in Lake Placid — is located next to the USA Hockey Store and pays tribute to the 1980 team by featuring jerseys, apparel, headwear, memorabilia and the exclusive Nike Eruzione Collection.

“We are very excited to open the first ever Mike Eruzione Team Shop in Lake Placid,” said Matt Nyman, president and chief executive officer of Redline Hockey. “We are very proud to be associated with Mike and the rest of the team as we open a store that will pay tribute to all the players as well as the memory of one of the greatest sports events in history.”

“We’re thrilled to have our first store opening in Lake Placid,” Eruzione said. “Redline Hockey has done a wonderful job working as a partner to USA Hockey, Inc, and we fully expect the Lake Placid location to be a very popular destination.”

Eruzione is expected to be in Lake Placid next week, touring some of the Olympic venues with his family, according to officials at the state Olympic Regional Development Authority. He is also expected to host a meet-and-greet with fans from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 7 at the Mike Eruzione Team Shop.
