Dewey Mountain honors Jackie Garso

SARANAC LAKE — Former Dewey Mountain skier and current U.S. Biathlon biathlete Jackie Garso was honored by Dewey Mountain at a pop-up event in April. Garso has represented the U.S. in international biathlon competitions in the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Dewey Mountain manager Jason Smith moderated the event, which was conducted as a question-and-answer session between Garso, Smith and the attendees. The event culminated with Garso, who competed in her first three World Cup races this past season, presenting Dewey Mountain with her bib from her first World Cup event, a 15K individual race in Ruhpolding, Germany.

Garso raced for Dewey as a youth, graduated from Saranac Lake High School in three years and won the New York State cross country ski title as a senior.

As a Nordic skier, Garso raced for St. Lawrence University at the NCAA Division I level, and graduated with a degree in statistics. She first competed internationally for U.S. Biathlon at the IBU Cup level during the 21/22 season. Garso again raced this past season for U.S. Biathlon at the IBU Cup level, and was elevated for three World Cup starts. She currently trains with the Green Racing Project in Craftsbury, Vermont.

Starting at $3.92/week.
