SLP lax topped by Canton

SARANAC LAKE — After winning back-to-back games, the Saranac Lake Placid lacrosse team fell to the Canton Golden Bears 7-4 on the road Monday.

Addison Dann paced SLP, scoring two of her team’s goals while assisting on the other two. Phoebe Peer and Lizzie Harvey had one goal each. Peer and Tyler Burth each had one assist.

SLP co-head coach Jeff Denkenberger said the team once again struggled offensively in the first half.

“We had trouble in transition against a strong Canton defense, they stopped us from getting the ball across half field most of the half,” Denkenberger said in a statement. “We came out strong in the second half and were able to capitalize off a penalty to score three quick goals but it wasn’t enough.”

Canton’s Sara Aldous, Madison Ayrassian and Olivia Francey netted two goals each. Megan Martin scored one goal.

SLP dropped to 5-6 overall with the loss. The team is slated to take on Heuvelton today at the North Elba Athletic Fields starting at 6 p.m.
