LAKE PLACID — After dropping just its second game this season on Monday, the Lake Placid baseball team responded in a big way on Tuesday by defeating the Johnsburg/Minerva Irish Jaguars 20-2 in five innings.

Tuesday’s contest was the final regular season home game for the Blue Bombers, which improved to 7-2 overall with the win. The team currently remains undefeated in league play.

After giving up one run in the first inning, Lake Placid scored 11 straight runs in its first two at-bats, before scoring nine runs in their final two innings to close out the win.

Hyler Isham led the Blue Bombers with three hits, while teammate Vann Morelli recorded a pair of hits. Lake Placid’s Foster Wood earned a double in the win. The team finished with 11 hits.

Less than a week after throwing a no-hitter against Bolton/Schroon Lake, PJ Colby pitched three no-hit innings before being relieved before the start of the fourth inning. Colby finished with six strikeouts and one walk.

Sophomore Owen Hayes and senior Katie Coursen came in relief for the final two innings and gave up one hit each.

The Blue Bombers will wrap up the regular season with two straight road games against Chazy and Crown Points. Lake Placid will play Chazy today and will finish in Crown Point on Saturday. Thursday’s game will start at 4:30 p.m., while Saturday’s contest is set for 11 a.m.
