TUPPER LAKE — The Tupper Lake football team wrapped up its centennial season with a solid 4-4 record, marking the first time since 2019 the program posted a .500 or better record. Not only did the Lumberjacks record a successful season, but five players were honored for their efforts by the Northern Athletic Conference as Section X all-stars.
Three Tupper Lake players were named to the first team, with senior Owen Whitman leading as the lone defensive player.
Whitman, who has been with the program since 2019, was named a first-team NAC choice as a defensive tackle. The senior led the team with five sacks while recording 44 tackles. He also had two fumble recoveries.
On the other side of the line, Tyler Wood was honored as a first-team All-Northern offensive guard. Wood is a junior at Clifton-Fine High School playing for Tupper Lake’s football team and in his seven games played this season, he helped the team pick up more than 1,000 rushing yards and 700 passing yards.
Tyler LaPlante, a junior, was named to the first team as an All-Northern tight end. In just six games this season, LaPlante recorded 14 receptions for 292 yards, while scoring four touchdowns.

Jayden Farnsworth was the Lumberjacks’ lone pick on the NAC’s second team. Farnsworth, a four-year starter, was honored as a quarterback. In his senior season with Tupper Lake, he threw for 699 yards, while scoring 12 touchdowns through the air. He also only threw three interceptions in seven games.
Senior captain Jamin Whitmore won the Section X Outstanding Sportsmanship Award. Whitmore played in all eight games this past season and made an impact in each one. The senior led the team in total touchdowns with seven — four of which came in his final varsity football game with the Lumberjacks. Whitmore also recorded 400 all-purpose yards on the season.
