Biathlon national championships return to LP
LAKE PLACID — Lake Placid will host the 2022 U.S. Biathlon Association’s National Championships this weekend at the Olympic Sports Complex in Lake Placid.
The state Olympic Regional Development Authority expects the competition to showcase more than 180 athletes from across the nation, along with master biathletes.
The event, which starts today and will end on Sunday, will not only showcase some of the best youth, junior, women and men’s biathletes in the United States, the event will also mark the final competition for six U.S. biathlon national team members’ careers.
Among those retiring, following the competition, will be 2022 Olympians Susan Dunklee, Clare Egan and Leif Nordgren. Hallie Grossman, a 2022 Olympic alternate, and 2018 Olympian Maddie Phaneuf will also retire.
