SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Fun Run season kicked off with a such a large turnout in the kids’ races last week that organizers were forced to make an emergency trip to buy more popsicles.

The night started off with 40 kids finishing the quarter-mile race and 27 crossing the line in the half-mile event. All finishers receive a popsicle for their efforts.

The Thursday Night Fun Run series will continue every Thursday through Aug. 29, with registration opening at 5:30 p.m., followed by the runs at 6 p.m. sharp. The adult runs range between 2 and 5 miles and are held on different courses in the village each week.

The Fun Runs are organized by volunteers and sponsored by the village of Saranac Lake and the Kiwanis Club of Saranac Lake. There is no fee to participate in the fun runs. For more information, contact Andy Pickreign at capp_andy@yahoo.com or 518-524-3557.
