To the editor:

Over the years, too many important issues in our village have been met by simply kicking the can down the road. Fortunately, the residents of Saranac Lake elected a mayor who chose a different path.

Mayor Jimmy Williams stepped forward and worked to get things done.

I want to thank him for making himself accessible to residents and for maintaining a civil tone throughout his campaign, even when others could not or would not. In a time when politics can often become divisive, Mayor Williams consistently demonstrated that leadership does not need to be driven by partisanship.

Instead, he showed respect for all village residents, regardless of political affiliation, and approached issues with a simple but important question: “What is best for Saranac Lake?”

That mindset is increasingly rare in today’s political climate, and it deserves recognition. Our community is better served when decisions are guided by common sense, respect, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of the entire village.

For that, Mayor Williams has my appreciation and support.
