To the editor:

Although I don’t live in the village, and can not vote in the upcoming village election, I have a business in Saranac Lake and I also identify with Saranac Lake as my community, a “community” that goes beyond the physical boundaries of the village. So, my thoughts are as valued as anyone else in the Saranac Lake community.

I would urge voting residents to seriously consider the team of Kelly Brunette (mayor), Jeremy Evans (trustee) and David Trudeau (trustee) for those positions in the upcoming election. Simply put, with decades of municipal experience, Kelly and Jeremy know how local government works and knowing how local government works is actually important. Without that background, there tends to be a “make it up as you go” approach to governing, and, while that may seem initially appealing to have a “devil may care” method of governing, rarely is it effective. All we have to do is look to the chaos in Washington to see how a lack of knowledge of how government works results in, well, chaos.
