Deadliest distraction yet

To the editor:

Donald Trump’s latest distraction from the Epstein files is his biggest and deadliest yet. His Feb. 28 combat operations with Israel have no clear rational. Different reasons are given each day, as well as having no clear timeline or exit strategy. So far, we have 140 soldiers wounded and 8 killed. Experts say it is costing American taxpayers $1 billion per day. Gas prices are soaring for all of us. But good news: in the first two weeks, stock prices for major arms-producing companies have all risen!

Trump is also pushing hard for the Senate to pass the SAVE act which the House passed by a slim margin on Feb. 11. This bill would make it much harder for Americans to vote. A birth certificate or passport would be necessary to prove citizenship. More than 69 million women who have taken their spouse’s last name do not have a birth certificate that matches their legal name. More than 140 million Americans do not have a passport, and seniors and citizens of color are the groups least likely to have one.

In the past two months, Trump’s DOJ and FBI have seized voter records from two counties in Georgia and Arizona from the 2020 election. Despite unfounded claims to the contrary, there is no evidence of voter fraud. The SAVE Act will make it harder or impossible for us to vote. Demand your representatives protect voting rights for all by calling 1-202-224-3121. Our democracy is hanging by a thread!
