Brain health
To the editor:
An estimated 7.2 million Americans age 65 and older are living with Alzheimer’s disease. This figure represents about 1 in 9 older adults. While Alzheimer’s is the most common form of dementia (60-80% of cases), the total number of people with any form of dementia is higher. By 2060, the number of people with Alzheimer’s is expected to nearly double, reaching 14 million.
While there is no guaranteed way to prevent Alzheimer’s, you can significantly reduce your risk through lifestyle. Would you like to learn more? A representative from the Alzheimer’s Association will offer a presentation “Supporting Brain Health in Our Community,” on March 19 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, located at 57 Church Street in Saranac Lake. Everyone deserves a life with the healthiest brain possible, and we can all take action to help protect our brain health.
For more information or to register, contact the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900 or call the Presbyterian church at 518-891-3401.
