A tribute to disgrace
Speaking of American military personnel killed in the Iran War, Trump stated, “Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends. That’s the way it is…” But it was never that way for him. In 1997, the five-time Vietnam War draft dodger said the dangers he faced, possibly contracting sexually transmitted diseases, was his “personal Vietnam.”
In late February, the Eisenhower Media Network (EMN), comprised of former military, intelligence and civilian national security officials, announced the winners of their “First Annual Profiles in Cowardice Award.” The 14 Republican members of the Senate Armed Services Committee were the recipients of this tribute to disgrace.
The EMN stated: “Out of fear of being primaried, they rubber-stamped Pete Hesgeth as the self-styled Secretary of War to cater to Trump and his MAGA cronies.” Instead of protecting the American people, “they chose to protect themselves.”
How many men and women in the U.S. military will die as a result of their cowardice? Pete Hesgeth said the media reporting on U.S. military casualties was an attempt to make President Trump look bad.
Trump stated he might continue bombing Iran’s Kharg Island oil export hub “just for fun” and the war will end “when I feel it in my bones…” Dead American military personnel. Dead Iranians. For our spineless, arrogant, psychotic commander-in-chief, wartime casualty counts are measures of greatness and grandeur.
In his 1999 assessment of Donald Trump, conservative television commentator Tucker Carlson stated the future president was “the single most repulsive person on the planet.” Truer words were never spoken.
