To the editor:

We are fortunate when members of our community are willing to accept the mantle of responsibility to serve in leadership roles. With Kelly Brunette’s announcement, our village has a candidate who brings experience from serving on the Saranac Lake Village Board of Trustees and a demonstrated commitment to the community. Thank you, Kelly, for being willing to step forward.

Solving complex community problems is rarely about finding the one person with the right answer. It is about creating the conditions where good solutions can emerge from the quality of our interactions and conversations. Intelligence does not live in any one individual; it emerges in the space between us.

Our village would benefit from leadership that strengthens connection, communication and collaboration. Environments marked by defensiveness, divisiveness and dismissiveness do the opposite. They stall progress and make it harder to move forward together.

I believe Kelly Brunette has earned the opportunity to help make the room smarter for our village and to foster the conditions where shared solutions can take shape.
