America first?
To the editor:
I’m curious if the year 2026 finds the U.S. citizenry better off as Trump promised? He campaigned on bringing prices down, ending the wars and putting our country first. In his first year, has any of that happened for you and your family? I know I haven’t seen any promises kept. The top 1% of our citizens and corporations have, in the “Big Beautiful Bill” the largest wealth shift from the poor to the rich.
This weekend, he directed our military to attack Venezuela and remove Maduro and his wife. It has to be the most expensive warrant arrest ever carried out, upwards of $500 million. Marco Rubio says it was a judicial extraction. Trump, in his speech to us, said that the U.S. will “run” it and administer a regime change. He also warned of using the threat of force to extract funds and resources. In that speech, he mentioned oil 25 times and not one mention of democracy for that country. He has also labeled Maduro as a narco terrorist, yet he granted a full pardon to ex-president Hernandez of Honduras. He was convicted in March of 2024 for importing cocaine into the U.S. and was serving a 25-year sentence.
So, I ask you, is any of this the America First Trump promised? Or is it what he said over the weekend, America First is what I say it is? Nobody voted for this crazy. Stand up, speak out.
