Monopoly anyone?

To the editor:

Crude oil prices are down more than 15 percent for the year, and gasoline in nearby Plattsburgh is less than $3 a gallon. In Wilmington, I recently bought for $3.29 per gallon, and in tiny little Star Lake, I found the price to be $3.05. Inlet, 60 miles south of us, sells for $3.29. What I would like to know is why our gas in the Tri-Lakes and Long Lake costs $3.49, a 15 percent premium to what it is being sold for in communities less than 50 miles from the Tri-Lakes?
