SLCS seeking nominations for Distinguished Alumni-Alumnae Award

The Saranac Lake Central School District is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Alumni-Alumnae Award.
Over the years, Saranac Lake has presented the Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae Award to outstanding alumni of the Saranac Lake Central School District. This award honors our notable alumni who have been outstanding in their professional accomplishments and have made significant achievements benefiting their local and/or global communities.
Last year’s recipients were Dr Suzanne Tubby and Aaron Gladd.
People nominated as Saranac Lake Central School District Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae may be living or deceased, and they must have graduated at least 10 years before the date of the presentation. They also must have graduated from the Saranac Lake High School or St. Pius X High School. Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae will be recognized for outstanding contributions made in their chosen profession and include areas such as: Science, Medicine, Public Service, Philanthropy, Military, Theology, Performing Arts, Technology, Business, Education, Government, Law, Communications, Humanitarianism and Fine Arts.
Characteristics given primary consideration include: Record of academic achievement, Professional and/or business achievements, Professional contributions and Significant achievements benefitting their local and/or global communities. Nominees for the Saranac Lake Central School Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae may be drawn from former students with backgrounds in areas such as science, medicine, public service, philanthropy, military, theology, performing arts, technology, business, education, government, law, communications, humanitarianism and fine arts.
Our Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae Award honorees are recognized by their peers and the community during a special ceremony held each fall. The award recipients are chosen by the Distinguished Alumni/Alumnae Award selection committee. Committee members will represent the Saranac Lake community and may include current or former members of the district’s staff, school board members, community volunteers, past honorees and current members of the student body.
Applications for the 2025 award are due Sept. 12, and are available at the Saranac Lake Central School District office, posted at www.slcs.org, or by email distinguishedalumni@slcs.org.
