Big ugly bill
The “Big Beautiful Bill” is actually ugly. As Mr. Musk says, it’s an “abomination.” This bill will devastate rural healthcare, hospitals and nursing homes, as in here in northern New York. The U.S. has the highest maternal mortality rate in the world. We are the richest country in the world. That is an abomination.
Musk is upset because it will hurt his electric car business with the elimination of the EV tax credit. He doesn’t mention healthcare. Why should he, when he went after USAID that fed and gave healthcare to the poorest in the world. Food sat and rotted as babies and children died. Bill Gates has worked to eliminate malaria in poor countries. He famously said, “the richest man in the world is killing the poorest children due to cuts in aid.”
Trump is lying, as is his norm, about the bill. He added $7 trillion to our national debt the last time he was president. He doesn’t care about the little people, only the wealthy who fawned over him bringing him checks for
$1 million that he pocketed … yes, putting money into the so-called reelection fund that can be used for whatever he wants.
Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader said, “When you try to take away healthcare from more than 15 million Americans, that’s a disgusting abomination.”
When you take food out of the mouths of children, veterans and seniors with “the largest cut to nutritional assistance in American history, that is a disgusting abomination.” They are going to “stick the American people with the bill and increase the debt by trillions of dollars.” What do you think will happen to interest on credit?
Sen. Kennedy (R) Louisiana fancifully said “if we don’t extend the tax cuts, we’re going into a recession.”
Huh? It would appear to me the opposite is true. He actually said tariffs should be zero. I agree, for the sake of small business and farmers. Free trade is the best route. What also isn’t funny is that it will trigger $500 million in Medicare cuts.
Howard Lutnik, Secretary of Commerce, is pushing the Trump tariff plan. It’s all crazy. He won’t answer in any rational way when questioned about the tariffs. Does he know, or just tap dancing?
What is not funny is this bill. Now some Representatives in the House are saying they didn’t know certain things are in the bill … what do they get paid $174,000/year for? If this thing passes the Senate, many of these people should be voted out, including our representative who bragged about voting for it. Abomination indeed.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Zahn
