Two world leaders

To the editor:

A voice of mercy in our noisy world has died. Pope Francis “walked with humility, spoke with fire, and dared to love the unloved” (Bob Dylan). He was a world leader who lived the Gospel of Jesus, loving God and his neighbor as Jesus taught (Matthew 22:37-40, Mark 12:30-31 and Luke 10:27). He was an example of equity, diversity and inclusion.

In contrast, the leader of our nation — a convicted felon and mean bully — lies, uses hateful, crass, demeaning language, spews hate and denies people their basic human rights, breaking God’s commandments as well as the American Constitution daily. His Easter message was full of hateful vitriol, mislabeling people, putting them down and lumping them into stereotypical categories, seeking to dehumanize them.

“Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.” — Proverbs 10:12
