To the editor:

If you live or visit Lake Placid, you may have noticed that parking here can be problematic. The village has taken an aggressive approach to enforcing the meters it has filled its streets and lots with. It made roughly a million dollars in the 2024-25 fiscal year from parking. I FOILED the information. So the motivation is apparent.

But where does this money go? Who decides what’s important? How does this help the community who lives and works here and the people who visit? I have started a petition on change.org called “Lake Placid Parking” along with a Facebook group also called Lake Placid Parking. I think that this issue is important and should and could be resolved with more information and discussions about such. All the best.
