Thanking our community
To the editor:
Women’s College Scholarship Club has been raising funds to award educational scholarships in the Saranac Lake area since 1938. Our practice is to raise money to support scholarships throughout a calendar year, which are then awarded to high school graduating seniors and Continuing Education recipients in June of the following year.
Our fundraising efforts in 2024 have been hugely successful, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our local businesses and members of the community. WCSC is delighted to announce that we will be increasing the amount of each scholarship from $2,000 to $3,000 in year 2025. Scholarships are available to male and female students and can be applied to traditional college, online studies, technical and trade school programs.
The club is so appreciative for all the local businesses who donated gift cards for our 2024 raffles. We are grateful to community members who purchased hot dogs, raffle tickets and baked goods at our many fundraisers throughout the year, and for the corporate and foundation grants we have been blessed to receive from organizations and local residents.
And from the bottom of our hearts, we thank all the folks who responded so generously to our recent annual appeal for donations to support our mission.
Thanks to all of you, we will be awarding six education scholarships to graduating high school seniors residing within the Saranac Lake School District, and four Continuing Education scholarships to scholars residing in Essex or Franklin County.
High school seniors should apply through the Saranac Lake High School guidance department. Applications for Continuing Education scholarships will be available on the WCSC website at www.slwcscholarshipclub.com.
With sincere gratitude to all our wonderful supporters,
Susan Mueller
