A special thanks to Cure Cottage Development, LLC

To the editor:

My name is Karen Miemis. I serve on the Barkeater Trails Alliance Board of Directors. I’m also co-president of Saranac Lake Innovative Cycling Kids (SLICK) and a sixth grade teacher in the SLCSD.

On behalf of BETA, we extend our deepest gratitude to Wayne and Scott Zukin and Brian Draper of Cure Cottage Development, LLC, for their incredibly generous decision to grant public land access to Mount Pisgah through their property on Park Ave.

Prior to this agreement, mountain bikers, including youth participants in the Saranac Lake Middle School OutRide program, along with hikers and walkers, faced safety risks accessing the Mount Pisgah trails. They often had to navigate busy roads like Route 3 and Route 86.

The establishment of this public access point will provide a safe and convenient route for residents and visitors to reach Pisgah by bike or foot via a dedicated single-track trail, which will be completed in the near future.

This act of generosity demonstrates a commitment to the well-being of our community. Cure Cottage Development, LLC, has not only enhanced recreational opportunities for our residents but also contributed to the overall health and vitality of Saranac Lake. Thank you!
