President Biden did the right thing pardoning his son

To the editor:

Really, Adirondack Daily News? So much coverage of Joe Biden’s pardon of his son, Hunter. I believe he never dreamed Donald Trump would ever be elected again, given his criminal history, pathological lying and conspiracy nonsense. It is indeed baffling that anyone could vote for that guy.

My take is that he wasn’t about to leave Hunter susceptible to the vindictive whims of either Trump or his new cabinet choice at the DOJ. Hunter repaid the back taxes and penalties, pled guilty of having a handgun for 11 days while still under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No one else, whose name wasn’t Biden, would have been pursued as the Republicans have pursued Hunter, in order to hurt Joe Biden politically. It was indeed malicious. Hunter has been sober for five and a half years now. I admire President Biden for being supportive of his only surviving son. He lost his other son who had been in service to the country. I say good on Joe. He did the right thing.

As for the next president, I’d advise everyone to bone up on the book 1984. It’s what we are going to get for the next four years. Lies will be truth. The “Party” will decide everything. I truly wish I could go live across the globe somewhere for four years.

Sincerely,
