Join us for Honor Flight on Saturday

To the editor:

North Country Honor Flight will be sending 30 more veterans on an all expense paid trip to visit the memorials built in their honor this Saturday. Almost all of these veterans are from the Vietnam War, we hope to send them on a trip which will try and heal the wounds received during a very turbulent time in our country. We can’t change the terrible reception they received when they came home, but we can give them the welcome home they never received. Please join us in honoring veterans.

“Thunder in the Burgh” is back and will be a great salute as the motorcade leaves Champlain Center at 6:15 a.m. heading for the U.S. Oval.

The send off ceremony starts at 7 a.m. sharp with the parade over to the Plattsburgh International Airport to follow.

The welcome home will be right back at the Veterans Park on the U.S. Oval at 8:15 p.m., please join us for a big welcome home they never received.

We would like to thank White Management through Dunkin’, KFC, Taco Bell and the Butcher Block for the sponsorship of these two flights. These flights are very expensive and having flight sponsors ensures our mission will continue. Having Dunkin’ at the send off ceremony supplying coffee and donuts has been a fantastic addition to our program.

Please join us for any or all parts of the Honor Flight, everything is free and open to the public, and you’ll leave feeling good about showing these veterans the gratitude they deserve.
