Thanks for supporting students
To the editor:
The Saranac Lake High School Model U.N. Club would like to thank the organizations who funded their participation in the Columbia University Model U.N. Conference and Exposition earlier this year.
A special thanks goes to the Adirondack Foundation for providing money from the Corning Chisholm Fund and the Saranac Lake Public Schools Fund. Additionally, the club is indebted to the Cloudsplitter Foundation and the Saranac Lake Women’s Civic Chamber for their financial support. Finally, two local businesses hosted fundraisers that also allowed the students to raise money. They are Coakley Hardware and Moody Tree Farm.
Thanks to these groups and businesses, 11 SLHS students were able to participate in a four day conference at Columbia University in New York City where they debated students from all over the U.S. and the world. They also were able to tour the German mission at the United Nations Headquarters and were given a policy briefing by the mission staff. This, for many, was an amazing experience. Outside of the conference they did several walking tours of the city, from Times Square and Broadway to the St. John of the Divine Cathedral. Needless to say this trip was an incredible academic and cultural experience. Our deepest thanks to these groups for their support.
Sincerely,
Colden Damour and Max Hall
