To the editor:

I would like to comment on Saranac Lake’s new code enforcement officer. I manage about 70 apartments for Charles Nicastro. I have had the pleasure of working with Chris (code officer) since he took the job.

He has inspected every one of our buildings in a fair and impartial manner according to New York state and village codes. He is always available, fair and knowledgeable and brings a sense of competence and professionalism to his job.

He abides by the law but is always willing to work with people for the common goal of safety.

I think the mayor made an excellent choice in hiring him. My opinion is that if you can’t work with Chris you probably can’t work with anyone or are trying to circumvent code. He is an excellent code enforcement officer and just generally a nice guy who doesn’t play favorites or politics.
