5th Quarter Club still going after 33 years
To the editor:
The Saranac Lake 5th Quarter Club is still going strong. The club was established in 1985 by a group of enthusiastic parents. At its conception the club held tailgate parties at Homecoming games. Eventually it turned into what we are today — a group of hometown football enthusiasts interested in helping out the Saranac Lake football program.
We still hold tailgate parties, but we also provide lunches for away games, sponsor two PAL football players, organize a varsity banquet, hold breakfasts during playoff season, purchase any items the football program may need and pay for HUDL, which benefits both the coaches and the players.
Our fundraising efforts include our annual golf tournament all proceeds benefit the entire Saranac Lake football program. We also look to the community to purchase ads for the football programs that we have at home games. We sell Red Storm accessories at our “Red Tent” also at home games. If needed, we will run concession. The program is solely based on volunteers. We are always looking for new members. Volunteers give as much time as they can spare.
If you are interested in helping out or if you need some pointers on starting your own Booster Club for a different sport, you can contact Allen or Debbie Moody at 518-891-9138.
