Lake Placid Village Clean Up broke a record

To the editor:

The 54th annual Village Clean Up (VCU) held Saturday, May 21, broke the record for most volunteers. Over 270 people volunteered, either on the day of or in the weeks leading up to the event. Part of what makes this a great community to live in is that we know we have the support of our local businesses, organizations and municipal agencies, and the hard-working folks who run them.

It is a joy to see the overall sense of pride and accomplishment on faces of our residents young and old when the community gets together to take ownership for the cleanliness and beauty of our local environment. The annual Lake Placid VCU is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to show the love for this community by giving their time and energy cleaning our streets. This annual event is a perfect reminder that it only takes a moment to stop and pick up a piece of litter and put it in its proper place.

Clean Up Day organizers Andrea Grout and Tricia Garrett would like to send a big thank-you to the many enthusiastic volunteers for your efforts, your great attitude and your stewardship of our beautiful Adirondack town.
