New clinic at Trudeau

“Organization of a new diagnostic chest clinic at Trudeau Sanatorium was revealed today in the 63rd annual report of Trudeau Sanatorium for the year ending Sept. 30, 1947 which has just been published.

“The new clinic plan involves no additional cost to the institution because it has all the necessary facilities, personnel, laboratories and other equipment and since approval by the Trustees these are being integrated into the operating unit.

“Patients who come for study and diagnosis have the service of a medical staff of excellent training and long experience in diseases of the chest as well as the advantages offered by the bacteriological, biochemical, physiological and x-ray departments. Rooms have been set aside for such patients in one of the cottages.

“When the study has been completed, patients are returned to the physicians who referred them to the clinic with complete findings and recommendations.

“The report also listed a goal of $125,000 for the 1948 Trudeau campaign. Included in this was $20,000 for replacing x-ray equipment, $5,000 for surgery fund to assist patients, $1,200 for fluoroscope, $5,000 for free bed fund, $6,742 for kitchen and dining room renovations.”

The story went on to list all the expenses including $2,400 for a new dump truck and concluded with this paragraph:

“Total operating expenses of the institution for 1947 were $545,363.82. A gross deficit of $158,146.59 remained at the year’s conclusion.”

Starting at $3.92/week.
