Butterflies and Hawke
Second Art & Science Series next week
SARANAC LAKE — Hotel Saranac will host the second evening of the Saranac Lake Art & Science Series, featuring a free artwalk, a talk on monarch butterfly migration and interview with Hilary Hawke Band, followed by a performance from the band. The artwalk will kick off the event off at 5 p.m. on April 16.
Hilary Hawke is a banjo player on Broadway — bringing a unique ability to bridge traditional folk instruments with an artform that requires written music. She released her debut album with her band in 2022, and recently played at Carnegie Hall. Formed in 2022, the trio features versatile banjoist Hilary Hawke, acclaimed guitarist Ross Martin and rising fiddle innovator Camille Howes. They weave improvisation, original songwriting, bluegrass and old-time into a sound that is fresh, fearless and deeply expressive.
