Image of the Week
This photograph was recently donated to our collection. It shows the Loomis Block on Broadway, prior to the fire that destroyed the third floor in the 1920s. From the mid-1890s, the building was home to the Loomis General Store, which sold packbaskets, traps and other hunting equipment. The store also carried school supplies and all the necessary books for Saranac Lake schoolkids. A 1906 advertisement for the store included Edison Talking Machines.
