Valerie A. LeBlanc
Valerie Ann LeBlanc, born Aug. 20, 1951, in Malone, New York, passed away after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease while residing at Elderwood of Uihlein in Lake Placid.
She was the daughter of the late Henry LeBlanc and Norma Lacombe LeBlanc. Valerie is survived by her beloved and only child, Carrie LeBlanc Bradley, and Carrie’s husband, Dennis; her cherished granddaughters, Hannah Szulis and her husband, Luke Szulis, and Emma Bradley. She is also survived by her brother, Phil LeBlanc and his wife, Cathy, of Saranac Lake, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Richard, Randy and Raymond LeBlanc, and her sister-in-law, Linda Mason LeBlanc.
Valerie graduated from Salmon River Central School in 1970. She began her working career at the Malone Dress Factory, later earning her degree from North Country Community College. She went on to work for the Salmon River Central School District for over ten years before continuing her career with the Franklin County Department of Social Services.
Valerie was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered with St. Mary’s Bingo, worked for the Franklin County Board of Elections, and following her retirement, volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store and assisted with St. Andre Bessette Church Bingo. Even after retiring, Valerie returned to work part-time at the HEAP Office, a role she truly enjoyed.
Valerie lived at the Sawyer Avenue Apartment Complex in Malone, where she served as Vice President of the complex and was a board member of the Malone Housing Authority.
She had a deep love for animals, especially her cats, Walter and Sammy, and her grandpup, Petey, who brought her great comfort and joy.
Friends wishing to honor Valerie’s memory may make donations to St. Vincent de Paul, Malone, New York.
Visitation will begin at noon at St. Mary’s Church in Fort Covington, and then a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, with Reverend Martin Cline officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fort Covington in the spring. For those who would like to join the family, there will be a light reception at the American Legion in Fort Covington following the services.
