Ella Jane (McCormick) Straub
Jane was born on June 8, 1952, in Saranac Lake. She was the second child of nine born to Bernard and Isabel McCormick.
Although Jane was always a “tom-boy”, she had a huge heart and was a very kind and loving soul. She spent years taking care of her younger siblings while Mom and Dad were away. She worked for many years as a CAN at the hospital caring for the sick and injured, as was her calling.
She loved all things outdoors, including snowmobiling, horseback riding, gardening, skating, skiing, camping, hunting and fishing, just to name a few. Jane also had two daughters that she raised up on her own. She loved her many grandchildren and was equally enthused and loving to her great grandchildren, always telling stories about them all.
True to form, Jane spent the last years of her own life taking care of our ailing mother at her home in Gwinn, Michigan. She loved her mother dearly, as this was a huge undertaking. There is no way to fit her acts of kindness and generosity into a paragraph or two.
Jane passed away to join God in heaven on Dec. 28, 2025, at her home in Gwinn, living next door to her daughter Michelle and her family. Michelle and her family were loving and caring to her in her final years. Her calling home to God leaves a huge hole in our lives that will never be filled. God bless you. There will be no services as per Jane’s request.
Jane was predeceased by her father and mother, Bernard Richard and Isabel Jane, sister Donna Lasalle and brother Tommy McCormick. Jane is survived by her daughters Michelle Nordeen (Billy) and Jennifer Prince (Reuben), brother Richard McCormick (Alexandra), sisters Deborah Bates (Joe) and Jonie Washburn (Brian) brothers Charles McCormick (Mary) and Mark McCormick (Tammy) and sister Betsy Corris (Chuck), as well as many grandchildren, great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
