Barbara Knox
Barbara Knox, age 88, of Lake Placid and most recently of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at her daughter’s home from the long-term effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s.
Barbara Knox grew up in Michigan and was born April 15,1937 in Midland, Michigan, the daughter of Dorothy (Anderson) and Edwin Wilson.
Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree in education and also a bachelor’s degree in speech language pathology for the disabled. She taught speech therapy in several school systems to include Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake, Malone and Chateaugay.
Barbara especially enjoyed figure skating, wildlife rehab and canoeing while listening to the loons. She was a downhill ski instructor and water ski instructor. She also enjoyed gardening, painting, crafting, basket weaving and sewing her daughter’s figure skating competition outfits.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Knox. Barbara is survived by her three children: Charles Knox, James Knox and Tammie Knox. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Deyondra, Dustin, Dariana and Danaya Patterson, and Christian and Amber Knox. There are also two great-grandchildren, Vivianna and Kehlani Hanson.

Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband at George B. H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga, at the convenience of the family.
