Louise St. Onge Rape

Louise Margaret Rape, 76, of Flat Rock, North Carolina, formerly of Jefferson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Aug. 8, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina.

She was born on June 25, 1949, in Tupper Lake, to the late Joseph Harvey St. Onge and Florence Emily Disotelle St. Onge. Louise’s education at Tupper Lake High School laid a strong foundation for her life’s adventures.

Louise shared a beautiful and enduring love story with her husband of 50 1/2 years, Dr. Kenneth Ormand Rape of Flat Rock, North Carolina. Together, they navigated highs and lows, always with unwavering support and deep affection for one another.

Her brother, Charles Wayne St. Onge, and his wife, Nancy Jean of Tupper Lake, shared many fond memories with Louise. Her sister, Lucy Ane Hatley of Heath Springs, South Carolina, also held a special place in Louise’s heart. While Louise was predeceased by her parents and several siblings — brothers Larry, Gerald, Leonard, Bernard and Donald, and sisters Theresa Racine, Madeline Sutter, Rita Woods, Annette Robistow and Jane Maddlone — she left behind a legacy of love that will be carried on by her numerous nieces and nephews.

Louise’s interests were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. She had a talent for crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that were both a comfort and a keepsake for those she loved. Her nieces and nephews were the recipients of not only her crafted treasures but also her abundant affection. Louise had a playful side as well, often engaging in light-hearted teasing with her brother Chuck, much to the delight of their family.

There will be a Celebration of Life Graveside Service on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m. at Wolf Pond Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Mike Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PACE or Care Partners Solace Hospice, 21 Belvedere Road, Asheville, NC 28803.

The family would like to thank her caregiver, Judy Davis and all of the PACE and Care Partners Solace Hospice employees for their kind and loving care given to her during this difficult time. Arrangements are entrusted to Baumgartner Funeral Home (www.baumgartnerfh.com) of Pageland, South Carolina.
