Jean is survived by her children Amy (Kevin) Brennan, John (Regina) Felio, Megan Schwartz and Deborah (Benjamin) Schwartz; her grandchildren, Jay, Christopher, Rachel, Libby, Samuel, Jackson, Charlie and Lily. Along with her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brother, John Crouse, and numerous close relatives and friends. She loved them all dearly.

Jean was born on March 4, 1936, in Lyons, the daughter of the late Reginald Crouse and Laura Payment Crouse. She grew up in Wolcott. Jean graduated from Leavenworth Central School in Wolcott, attended St. Lawrence University and later obtained her nursing degree from Cornell University in 1959.

Jean married Hubert C. Felio in her hometown of Wolcott on April 7, 1969. They made their home and raised their family in Tupper Lake. Jean and Hubert loved each other and their children deeply. When Hubert died on Dec. 6, 1998, Jean’s quiet courage, faith and strength brought comfort to family and friends.

Jean’s career was impressive. She worked as a speech writer in Washington, D.C. and volunteered her nursing services at Resurrection City. An educator at heart, Jean spent many years volunteering as a play therapist at L.P. Quinn Elementary School in Tupper Lake. Eventually, she became a school nurse and worked for BOCES in Saranac Lake until her retirement.

Jean was deeply devoted to her family, her profession and lifelong learning. She will be remembered fondly for her compassion, her wit and her dedication to those she cared for. Jean enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren and her grand-dogs. She was an avid reader, quilter and gardener. She delighted in cooking for her family and friends. Jean also loved being outdoors. Her deep love for the Adirondacks, Tupper Lake and especially her home on the Raquette River will be remembered always.
