Ann Johnson

Ann Danahy Johnson, 82, formerly of Queensbury and Lake Placid, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her residence at Village on the Isle, Venice, Florida.

Ann was born in Glens Falls on Sept. 22, 1942, to the late Leonard C. Danahy and Claire Buckley Hayward.

Ann C. Danahy married Erwin H. “Red” Johnson on July 10, 1965, and in June 2015, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by family and friends, before he passed away in September 2015.

She graduated from Saint Mary’s Academy in 1960, Adirondack Community College with an AS Degree in business administration with honors in 1980 and Siena College with a BBA degree in accounting in 1983.

She opened Ann C. Johnson Accounting & Tax Service from home before moving her office to Upper Glen Street in Queensbury, and then Lake Placid. In Lake Placid, she also ran Grammy’s Antiques & Dolls. When she and Red retired to Florida, she continued to work for many of her North Country clients and branched out into selling dolls and antiques on eBay.

She was a past member of Glens Falls YMCA, Tri-County Mothers of Twins Club, Adirondack Red Wings Booster Club, National Association of Accountants, National Association of Tax Practitioners, New York Society of Independent Accountants, New York State Society of Public Accountants, American Society of Women Accountants, New York State Society of CPA Candidates, Adirondack Regional Chambers of Commerce and Kiwanis Club of Lake Placid.

Survivors include six children, Donna (late husband, Kevin) Smyth of Queensbury, Jay (Kimberly) Johnson of Irmo, South Carolina, Janet (Troy) Burns of Smyrna, Tennessee, Julie (Patrick) Dowd of Glens Falls, Jeffrey Johnson of Diamond Point and Laura (Michael Glass) Eldred of Saranac Lake; her 13 grandchildren, Robyn (Brandt Burgess) Smyth, Eric Smyth, Jalene Smyth, Corey (Heather) Johnson, Sarah Link, Stacia (Patrick) Daigle, Anna Burns, Ethan Burns, Colin Dowd, Brennan Dowd, Kieran Dowd, Eamonn Dowd and Jenna Eldred; great-grandchildren Hadlee Burgess, Oran Burgess, Oliver Johnson, Elisabeth Link, Wallace Daigle and Hubert Daigle; her sisters Deborah Golonka and Danielle Schaaf, and brother Jay Hayward; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 14, at M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 136 Main Street, South Glens Falls.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home following the calling hour. Friends and family are invited to gather for a bereavement luncheon following the service at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 80 Saratoga Ave., South Glens Falls.

Burial will be at convenience of the family at Friends Cemetery on Cronin Road in Queensbury.
