Lucille ‘Luci’ Leidig

Surrounded by the love of her family, Lucille “Luci” Leidig, 92, passed away on Sept. 14, 2024, in Plattsburgh. She is now reunited with her high school sweetheart and husband of more than 75 years, T. Richard “Dick” Leidig.

Born in Rome, New York, Luci and Dick decided to marry and raise their three children there as well. Later in life, they became “snow birds” and split their time between Rome and their second home in Largo, Florida.

Lucy was small in stature, but her heart and soul were unmatched. She carried with her an enormous amount of love, faith and hope for her family and the world in general.

She was happy and loving, making sure to impact all around her with her natural effervescence and positivity, her bright smile and twinkling eyes, and most importantly her kind words. Luci’s friends and family always looked forward to her cards and special notes of encouragement on birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. Luci enjoyed sports with Dick and her family; skiing (both alpine and cross-country) tennis, sailing, and biking were some of their favorites. After high school, she became a dental hygienist, though only practicing after raising her children. Luci was also very active in her community including innumerable outdoor concerts.

Luci is survived by her son, Richard “Rick” (Kathy) Leidig; son-in-law Bruce Villeneuve; grandchildren, Karen (Chris) Swim, Steven (Lea) Spitzer, William (Bianca) Leidig and Maria (Keith) Braun; great-grandchildren, Jack, Adi, Harper, Edison, Ashlynne, Aubree, Anna and Ally; plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Luci was predeceased by her parents, Jennie and Charles Tyler; brother Edward Tyler; son Stephen Leidig; daughter Kathleen Villeneuve; brother-in-law Robert Leidig; sister-in-law, Andree Leidig; niece Mary Hanrahan, who also doubled as her sister; grandson Tyler Leidig; and great-granddaughter Kyleigh Mellen.

Family and friends were invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, NY 13440, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23.
