Theresa Taylor

Theresa Taylor, age 96, of Bloomingdale, was called home by our heavenly father to be reunited with her beloved husband Joseph, who predeceased her on March 7, 2001, after 51 years of marriage. Theresa died Sunday, April 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Bloomingdale on March 24, 1928, she was the daughter of John and Lenna (Collins) Morford. Theresa married Joseph Thomas Taylor on Oct. 22, 1949 at St. Mary’s Chapel in Ogdensburg, by Rev. Floyd Brown.

Theresa was a lifelong resident of Bloomingdale. She attended and graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1946. She continued her education at the St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Ogdensburg graduating in 1949. She had worked as a registered nurse at the St. Lawrence State Hospital from 1949 to 1952, Saranac Lake General Hospital 1957 to 1971 and the Will Rogers Hospital from 1971 to 1974. She was a member of the Adirondack Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Bloomingdale.

She is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Ann and Gar Munn of Bloomingdale, Rosemary and Matt Warner of Saranac Lake; four sons and their wives, Richard and Debbie, of Bloomingdale; Patrick and Julia of Oceanside, California; Christopher and Nora of Gales Ferry, Connecticut; and Timothy and Tammy of Denver, Colorado. Theresa is also survived by her daughter-in-law Laurie Taylor, wife of her son Thomas, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her son Michael. Theresa has 26 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister Anita Ely (husband Peter) of Watertown and one sister in law Sister Mary Christine Taylor, SSJ also of Watertown. Theresa was predeceased by her brothers James Morford, Carl Morford, Harold (Bud) Morford and her two sisters Rita Thompson and Ruth Techman.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Thursday, April 18 from 5 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard’s Church with Rev. Martin Cline officiating. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
