Ralph E. Preston Sr.

Ralph E. Preston Sr., “Bugger,” passed away at his home on June 3, 2023, at 79 years old.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1943, in Lake Placid, the son of Austin and Helen (Jenny) Preston of Lake Placid. He married Juanita Banker in Aug. 19, 1967.

Ralph retired from New York State Department of Transportation in July 1989. He was a family man and loved spending time with his loved ones and the ones he cared for. He loved his Indians, Eagles and Wolves. He loved attending Elvis concerts in Lake George with his brother Dickie. He spent quality time with his family at his brother Jimmy’s camp. He enjoyed his time with Jimmy and Dickie.

Ralph survived by his brother Austin Preston Sr. and his three sisters Millie, Beverly and Cindy; his two sons Tracey and Scott; his grandchildren Brooklyn, Karina, Sabrina, Crystal (Nik), Raven and Cash; and his great- grandkids Alora, Aven, Lucas and Vex. He was predeceased by his parents Austin and Helen (Jenny) Preston, his wife Juanita, his son Ralph Preston Jr., his sisters Elaine, Arvella, Karen and Maryellen, and his brothers Jimmy, Loren, Richard “Dickie,” William “Ninnie,” and George “Bubbie.”

He also loved many of his nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake on Friday, June 9 from noon to 2 p.m. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
