Rockwood E. Symonds

Born in Saranac Lake, May 15, 1970. He is the son of Roger and Bunny Symonds, Sr. of Vermontville.

Rocky attended Saranac Lake Schools and graduated in 1988. Shortly after, he moved to the Albany area where he attended FMCC for a time before he then began his 35 year career at Callanan Industries.

On April 25, 1992 Rocky married the love of his life, Amy Becker. They put down roots in Glens Falls and raised their two children, Rocky Jon and Kayla, there.

Rocky will best be remembered for his huge personality and smile that could light up a room. He was always ready with a funny story or joke to tell. He brought joy and contagious laughter wherever he went. He gave the best hugs, big ones, and if he really liked you, you got one whether you wanted it or not. He loved camping, fishing, snowmobiling and just being outdoors. He had a huge love for animals, can’t recall a time he didn’t have pets.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kayla and her fiance Chris (Persons); his parents Roger and Bunny; brother Roger Jr. and wife Lisa; sister Sandee and husband Eric; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; father in law Bob Becker; and two brother in laws, David and Mark Becker.

He was predeceased by his wife Amy; his son Rocky Jon; his mother in law, Mary Becker; and two brothers in laws, Bob Jr. and Paul Becker.

A celebration of Rocky’s life will be held on April 22 at the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for family and friends wishing to help us honor and remember Rocky. We hope you can join us and possibly share a funny story or favorite memory. Food and beverages will be served as we come together to remember this special person.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Rocky may make memorial contributions to the Tri-Lakes Humane Society or the Saratoga County Animal Shelter.
