Kent J. Pratt

He was born on Jan. 5, 1935, the son of Gertrude and Horace Pratt, Sr. He graduated from Lake Placid High School as part of the Class of 1954.

Kent worked for the town of North Elba Highway Department for 42 years and was superintendent for 36 of those years. He was also a member of the Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department.

Kent loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going into “camp” and hunting and relaxing there with his family and friends. Kent was a maple syrup producer for many years, which kept him connected to the outdoors.

Kent is survived by his wife Janette (Planty) Pratt and his sons James and Stanley Pratt. He is also survived by his sister Joan Ormsby and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kent was predeceased by his parents Gertrude and Horace Pratt Sr. and his children Charlie Pratt and Tammy Pratt. He was also predeceased by his brothers Neil Pratt and Horace Pratt as well as his sister Sandra Daby.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 25 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the M.B. Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Lake Placid Volunteer Fire Department prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m. The family suggests that you wear casual (comfortable) attire and suggests that you wear your jeans! A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 26 at 11 a.m. at St. Eustace Episcopal Church in Lake Placid. The Rev. Kenneth Hitch will officiate. Burial will follow in North Elba Cemetery.
