Samuel C. Hendren

With a heavy heart we announce the passing of beloved husband Samuel C. Hendren, 71, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Dec. 24, 2022 at the Tucson Medical Center. Sam was born in Ironton, Ohio on Aug. 11, 1951.

He was preceded in death by father, Clyde Hendren, mother Sophie Hendren, brother Franklin W. Hendren and sister Donna Meyers.

Sam enjoyed travel and made the most of his experiences traveling through Italy, France and Uruguay along with many trips to Canada. He attended Ohio State University.

Sam was a businessman and owned and operated several business, including Moon Tree Design in Lake Placid, which he owned with his wife Denise for 30 years; but his love was farming, and Sam revived Clover Mead Farm and ran an organic dairy and cheesemaking operation for 20 years in the Champlain Valley. Sam won a bronze metal in Trinity, England for a cheese (Champlain Valley Couronne) that he developed during that time. He started the Saranac Lake farmers market and was dubbed “The Cheese Man.”

He is survived by his loving wife Denise, his son Dylan (Melanie Blair), sister Aloha Baugh and brother James Hendren.

Cremation burial services have been arranged by Neptune Cremation. Memorial contribution may be given to the Alzheimers Association.
