Elaine Syracusa
Elaine Syracusa, 85, of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, passed peacefully on Oct. 8, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family after living with cancer.
Born in Saranac Lake on May 18, 1937, Elaine was the daughter of Charles and Isabel Smith and predeceased her husband, Lt. Col Anthony Syracusa (USAF retired), and her two sisters Janice Jarvis and Jean Bottomley. She is survived by her four children, Keith Syracusa, Mark Syracusa, Linda Syracusa Donohoe and Melisa Syracusa, and their five grandchildren.
Elaine grew up on Winona Avenue, graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1955, and was a champion speed skater. She graduated from the University of New York at Farmingdale and worked as a dental hygienist. Elaine married Tony in 1958. She was happiest serving the community and spending time with family and friends.
