Eileen L. Carrow, 94, of Tupper Lake, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Eileen Laura LaPlante was born Sept. 27, 1927, to MaryAnne (Power) LaPlante and Proctor T. LaPlante in Tupper Lake. Eileen graduated from Holy Ghost Academy in 1945 and from Ogdensburg Business School in 1946. She then worked as a secretary for Adam Palmer, Esq., William Perry, Esq. and Ernest Wood’s Accounting Office. In 1966, she went to work for the Tupper Lake Central School as a secretary in the guidance office until her retirement in 1991. Several years after her retirement, she worked for nine years as a foster grandmother at the LP Quinn Elementary School.

On April 25, 1949, she was married to Charles N. Carrow in St. Alphonsus Church by Msgr. Domina J. Breault. Together they raised four children: one son, David, of Denis, MA., and three daughters, Daphne (Tutti) Torno and her husband Dr. Paul Torno, Diane Dechene and her husband Michael Dechene, and Judi Snyder, all of Tupper Lake. She had four grandchildren: Collette (John) Loud, of Bristol, CT; Eric (Kim) Staves, of Odessa, FL; Evan (Brooke) Dechene and Matthew (Olivia) Dechene, of Tupper Lake. She also had seven great grandchildren: Kiana Carrow; Kirstyn Loud; Colin, Avery and Emma Staves; and Michael Steven Dechene and Addie Marie Dechene.

Eileen was predeceased by her parents, her brother Herbert in 1944, her husband Charles in 2000, her granddaughter Rhonda Carrow in 2000, her sister Daphne Veneroni in 2001 and her daughter-in-law Barbara Carrow in 2022.

Eileen was a communicant of St. Alphonsus Church and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She loved to pray for people. Anyone who ever needed prayers knew Eileen was the one to ask. She loved to knit and crochet and made many afghans for friends and for the sick. She was an avid reader and loved to bake. Her grandchildren especially loved Gram’s cookies.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation, in her memory, to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad.

Calling hours are scheduled at the Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake for Friday, June 10, from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. with a funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church.
