Theresa LaMare

Theresa Helen LaMare, 86, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 2, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones who have cared for her over the past few years.

She was born July 14, 1935 in Tupper Lake to Thomas and Helen (Veivia) Godin. On June 4, 1955, she married the love of her life, Lee F. LaMare, and they spent 59 wonderful years together before his passing in 2014.

Throughout her years, she was employed at Mercy Healthcare as a nursing assistant, OWD in the factory and helped with the Norman Rockwell mail order prints, worked at the HGA in the cafeteria, ran a daycare out of her home and ended career as a foster grandparent at Sunmount DDSO in 1997 to babysit her granddaughter, Marissa LaMare. Theresa was president of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 3120 and enjoyed helping out with the Girl Scouts. She cherished her times with family and friends, she and Lee were most known for their Christmas Eve parties, family reunions, and trips to Sonny’s Farm in Ellenburg, trips with her sister and camping at twin rocks campground in Childwold. In her spare time, Theresa enjoyed crafting with her sister and sewing various gifts for her family and friends.

Theresa and Lee opened their home for two years to the Fresh Air program during the summer and enjoyed teaching two city children what the Adirondack life was all about.

She is survived by one son, Randy LaMare, from Gillespie, Illinois and his companion, Deb. One daughter, Patti Ann (LaMare) Flagg and her husband, Ray, of Tupper Lake. A special daughter, Peg Holt and her husband Ron, from Rogersville, Tennessee. Ten grandchildren; Vicki LaMare of Pensacola, Florida, Erica LaMare and her husband Ola of Stockholm, Sweden, Orgen Sen and Lee LaMare from San Angelo, Texas, Theresa and Amber LaMare of Texas, Marissa (Skyler), Brayden, Ashleigh and Samantha LaMare of Tupper Lake. Five great-grandchildren: Feyzi, Keila, Cosmina (Lee LaMare), Kyle (Vicki LaMare) and Adam (Marissa LaMare and Skyler Patnode). She is also survived by her sister, Leona Kavanagh, her brother Steven Godin and his companion MaryAnn, and a brother-in-law, Homer LaMare and his wife Mae, all of Tupper Lake; and several nieces and nephews along with her beloved dog Holly.

She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband Lee and four brothers: Fred, David, Ronnie, and Ray Godin.

The calling hours will be Friday, Dec. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home in Tupper Lake and there will be a Christian mass on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. Donations may be made in her memory to the Tupper Lake Rescue Squad or High Peaks Hospice.
