Mescal Thomas
Mescal Marie (Merrill) Thomas, age 95, of Vermontville, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 at Elderwood of Uihlein at Lake Placid.
Mescal was born in Vermontville on Sept. 11, 1926, the daughter of Laurence and Octavia (Banker) Merrill.
Mescal married Gerald E. Thomas of Fort Covington on Aug. 7, 1965 in Church of the Nazarene in Seneca Falls, where she became the responsible mother of Wayne E. and Becky L. Thomas, Gerald’s children. Mescal attended schools in Vermontville and Saranac Lake and later graduated beauty school in Schenectady. Mescal was employed in area beauty salons before opening her own salon “Mescal’s Beauty Land” in Saranac Lake. She retired in 1988.
Mescal is survived by her daughter Becky L. (Millard) Feimann of Brushton, her son Wayne E. Thomas of Idaho, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mescal was predeceased by her father and mother, her first husband Gerald E. Thomas, her stepfather Frank L. Cass, two brothers, Donald R. (Margaret) and Edwin T. (Elaine) Merrill, and one sister, Carol (Richard) Hough.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. At Mescal’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service for family and friends is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 at 2 p.m. in Union Cemetery in Vermontville.
