Carol Oehlbeck

Carol Oehlbeck passed from this earth on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021. She was born on Jan. 27, 1934, to Harold and Ruby Goodwin. Carol grew up in the Holley/Kendall area of Western New York.

Carol is survived by her six children Susan, Thomas, Steven, Daniel, Charles, and Julie; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Barbara and Adele, and brother Richard Goodwin.

Carol moved to the Adirondacks in 1970 with her family. She was a positive and encouraging employee for many years at Adirondack Correctional Facility. She retired in 1994 and moved to the Ocala, Florida area, vowing to never spend another winter in the Adirondacks. She loved visiting loved ones during the summer months in Saranac Lake and Western New York.

Anyone who had the privilege of meeting and knowing Carol saw a beautiful and exceptional spirit. She loved her children dearly. Carol enjoyed her walks from Margaret Street to AMA gates and back for many years, having one or two with friends and family, particularly her great friend, Mary Bulris. She enjoyed life to the fullest, traveling to her ancestral homeland of Ireland, Puerto Rico and across the U.S. Carol made the world a much better place to everyone around her and will be missed dearly by all.

A private service will be held in June 2022 at Beachwood Cemetery in Kendall. Also, a celebration of Carol’s life will be held in the Saranac Lake area in the early summer of 2022.

Carol’s family and friends give many thanks for all the prayers and kind words sent from all over the country.

Donations may be made in Carol’s memory to High Peaks Church in Saranac Lake.
