Mary Rumney Clark

Mary Rumney Clark joined her late husband Richard Webster Clark in the presence of her Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 19, 2021, at the age of 83.

She was born Mary Carolyn Rumney in Keeseville on Sept. 14, 1937, to Frank and May (Kerr) Rumney. Mary graduated as valedictorian of the Class of 1955, Keeseville Central School. After graduation she left home to continue her education at the Champlain Valley School of Nursing, earning a degree as a registered nurse. Mary devoted her life to caring for others. She was employed first by the Placid Memorial Hospital, then Uihlien nursing home and finally Essex County Public Health, where she retired from in 1997.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Richard Rumney, and one sister, Barbara Sussdorff.

Mary enjoyed traveling with family Barb and Bill Sussdorff, and especially liked visiting the Amish. She enjoyed her flower garden, birdwatching, collecting teapots and cuddling her cat, and even tried her hand at curling. Later in life she developed a special bond with her niece Cora Clark.

Left to cherish the memory of Mary are two daughters and their families, Sarah Clark and Laurie Clements of Del Rio, Texas, and Jessica and Efrain Santana of Smethport, Pennsylvania; stepchildren Pam and Milt Bicklel of Saranac Lake and Rick Clark of Plattsburgh; grandchildren Timothy Moore, Laura and Tyler Hilyer, Jeffery Moore and Christina Clements; great-grandson Zackary Moore; and a large extended family with several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, March 13 at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid. Visitation is planned from 10 a.m. until noon. Pastor Derek Hansen will officiate the funeral service starting at noon. Burial will directly follow the funeral at the North Elba Cemetery in Lake Placid. M.B. Clark Inc.
