Susan K. Barner-Rasmussen

  Born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 6, 1944, she was the daughter of William and Aurora (Romeo) Alton. Susan married Hans Rasmussen on July 10, 1999. He predeceased her on March 21, 2018.

  Susan worked in Chicago, Illinois, until her transfer to Albany for the airline industry. She worked in Albany for many years, retiring from U.S. Air. Susan enjoyed travel and visiting between her home in Troy and her husband’s home in Saranac Lake. She especially loved visiting Bridgeman, Michigan, every summer in August to attend “Camp.” Susan was a volunteer at the Adirondack Health Gift Shop and gathered friends and acquaintances whereever she went.

  She is survived by one son, Timothy (Brenda) Fitzgerald of LaGrange, Georgia; one sister, Karen (Mark) Uban of Westfrank Fort, Illinois; two brothers: William (Bonnie) Alton of Olympia, Washington, and Ronald (Inger) Tiberi of Woodridge, Illinois; and one granddaughter, Maira Fitzgerald of LaGrange, Georgia.

  Calling hours will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 19 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frederick Dennis officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Emblem Cemetery, Elmhurst, Illinois, at a later date.
